Weighs The Truth
$175 unframed
This is a painting of one of the Thirteen Original Clan Mothers from the book by Jamie Samms. I was commissioned by one of the women in one of the groups based on these teachings to do a painting of her clan mother Weighs The Truth. I had 2 inspirations and this is the one she didnt choose. The other was a scene with the tribe around the fire and a figure similar to this one at the head of the group asking the ancestors and creature teachers for guidance on finding the truth and balance in the situation that had the tribe members concerned. I liked this figure so much that I decided to paint her as she appeared to me here. Unfortunately I didnt get a picture of that painting.

Phoenix Rising
Sold
This was the first painting for a client who commissioned Phoenix Womanshown on the commissioned work page. She re-defined what she wanted and I came up with that one. I loved this one for it's energy and bursting free quality and while it was posted on the website I had a number of requests to use it on websites, primarily individuals who were in recovery or organizations that dealt with recovery. It seems that the symbology of the Phoenix rising from it's ashes really speaks of rebirth and personal power to those who are rebuilding their lives after difficulties. I eventually sold it to a recovery organization in Germany. They sent me a copy of the brochure with this image on the cover. Of course, I couldnt read a word of it so I had to take it on faith it was about recovery!

Balancing Act
$175.00 unframed
My inspiration for this painting is about women and the things we juggle every day, family, love, work, deadlines, children's activities, temptation, all the while tring to stay balanced with our own spiritual needs. The blinfold is because we don't really have any guidance in all this except from within. We feel our way through it all and most of us do a damn fine job of it too!

Dancing In The Light
SOLD
I have always had a special place in my heart for this painting. I painted it soon after a personal transformation program that was very cathartic for me. It changed what I paint and the way I paint. Something within me was set free to paint what was really inside me. I would never include a figure before. Now there are lots. They always seem to have thier arms raised! I dont know what that means. Just resently a client bought this painting and I was thrilled because she loves it and everyone in her family who has seen it loves it too.

My Little Buddy and Me
SOLD!
Collection of Paul Turpin and his Liitle Buddy
I was working on the sketch for this painting and I thought, this is the first figure I have ever drawn that I like! It expresses a special relationship between boy and man but also perhaps a man and his acceptance of his own innocence and childlike wonder. I wanted to express more about the relationships we have with ourselves, each other and with life. Prior to this painting I primarily painted still lifes or florals. Now I paint a lot more of what I see in my mind and heart and when I paint what I see, it's becuase it spoke to me about feelings.

Going Fishing
$250 unframed
Shortly after I moved in with my roomie I went out on the porch in the morning with my coffee and I noticed the way the morning sun was casting shadows against the wall of the house. The hummingbirds were busy at the feeder and the branches of the oak tree across the driveway were intermingling with the other shadows to make some interesting shapes. The chair, fishing pole and ladder were sitting exactly like this. I thought, that looks just like someone is about to come pick up that pole and go to the fishing hole. It felt some homey and, I dont know, domestic I guess. I had to paint it. So, I told roomie he couldnt move the pole until I was done. Turns out that pole had sat there quite some time like that! I came out every day that I could at the same time of day and worked on the sketch. It was a bear. That ladder is for stairs and thre is an extension on the near leg which really makes the persective look off even when it isn't! I used a lot of erasure before I was done. I think it was worth it though. I love the feeling of this painting.
