Inside the studio
Inside the studio Emily Bullock and Raymond Morales are here for a weekend firing and are hard at work glazing. These two are newlyweds -- they recently tied the knot right here in Katherine's beautiful valley.

That's me glazing
Here I am carefully slapping glaze on a pot. This is not as much fun as throwing mud, but maybe I will like this one! I have learned that Raku is a crap shoot. Often it does not look like we expect it to. I am learning to like whatever I get. I'm not there yet, but I'm getting better.

Cathy Clark applies glazes to one of her Godess pieces. These Raku glazes are all Katherine's own mixtures. Before they are fired they are all dull shades of gray.

Cathy's Godess out of the fire. She also does free-form pieces with Shaman and Native American symbols.

Emily Bullock, also known as The Dragon Lady, carefully brushes glaze on one of the dragons that she's known for. Each one is formed by hand and has a unique expression.

The dragons are mounted on a black cave shelf to add stabilty. Isn't this guy fierce? He has a bit of an evil grin and looks like he might be saying Ah, dinner has arrived!
